Limited Edition of only 10 copies, 11×14 archival pigment print on matte paper.

To celebrate the release of his new book London Rock: The Unseen Archive, Alec Byrne has commissioned Los Angeles artist Sebastian Fassbender to create a series of pop-art inspired interpretations of selected photos from his archive.

The first in this series is based on Alec’s iconic photograph of Mick Jagger, taken on the set of the 1969 film ‘Performance.’

After weeks of trying, 19-year-old Alec finally got permission to shoot for a couple of hours on the set of the cult film, which would mark Jagger’s first appearance in a narrative motion picture. At one point, to stay out of the way during a camera setup, young Alec found himself sitting on a bed with Jagger and actresses Anita Pallenberg and Michele Breton, all of whom were nude. He shot this photo and called it a day.
